Thanks for stopping by the web site, which I hope will become your one and only source of information about what I can offer you.

There’s loads of background details about me plus links to the other stuff I do such as computer programming, Karate, Tai Chi, Health related exercise and work related Training Sessions.

People have said  to me "You're Inspirational", but I never really gave it much thought and certainly never considered the possibility of being so.

After reading about me and seeing the videos I have made over the years, quite a number of people have said to me “You’re Inspirational” but I never really gave it much thought and certainly never considered the possibility of being so. They then went on to say I should consider giving talks to people and groups because my story was something people would like to hear.

My life as a human being is, in my opinion, pretty straight forward. Where it  becomes complicated is when the cerebral palsy influences what I wish to achieve!    Things are generally made more challenging for me when people say ‘You’ll never do that’, such as winning my black belt in Karate, or walking.

I’m an Aries, so cannot stand losing or not being able to finish a task. In terms  of the five elements, I have WOOD characteristics.  It has been a long struggle - the first eight years of my life I was reliant upon a Wheelchair. I was living in an age when disabled children went off to special school and the Charitable Organisation for my condition was called “The Spastics Society”.

At seventeen my DSS advisor (the one for people with disabilities) told my mum I should go home and claim benefits and not bother with working.  I spent most of the 1980’s unemployed, until getting a job on my own merits in  1989 with Avon Tyres (and touch wood, I’ve been in employment ever since).

My interest in public speaking was aroused when I was asked to speak at the  2007 South West Region Sport England Conference and then shortly after at a local event organised by the County Sport Partnership.

Additionally I have attended several Wiltshire Schools to give talks about my life and experiences. I’ve also been on BBC Wiltshire Radio (2007) with Sandy Martin talking mainly about my day job working with ex-drug users and how I attempt to help them move on with their lives. (2009) with Marie Lennon talking about Qigong and (2011) Steve Yabsley on BBC Somerset.  I am a regular Sue Davies guest, BBC Wiltshire, because we did community radio together a long time ago.

As far as public speaking is concerned, whatever your particular topic I will aim  to include some relevance in my talk; for example talking about employment to businesses, my world travel to travel Agents, School life to children etc.  I can talk for as long as you need whether that’s for an after dinner event, School Assembly or a Conference.

The subject matter will always be based around my life and experiences and I will try to tailor the content and length to the age and ability of the participants.
